On rare occasions you can find youreslef at the right place and the right time. On most photo outings I try to pre-plan a route or plan around a time of day to really maximize the light or the access to a location or whatever. That said sometimes I find that just getting out there and having a camera in hand is all you need to do - the location and circumstances do the rest.
In this instance I was at work (which generally takes me to some interesting venues) and brought my camera with me with hopes of getting some shots of the show I was working. Next thing I know I have my camera gear with me and an entire roof to myself for a great sunset and blue hour. It was a nice treat to have everything line up in my favor and be able to have a great view. There really isn't anything more romantic than NYC from the banks of Brooklyn.
