This image is strikes me when I look at it and just can't really believe that landscape can look this beautiful. My wife and I took a hot air balloon ride while visiting Sossusvlei last December and now after having that experience of seeing the landscape this way and seeing the sunrise while a few thousand week in the air I can't believe that we even considered not doing the ride. To be clear hot air balloon rides are a luxury that you really pay for, but boy is it worth every penny.
This image kind of speaks for itself, but I really enjoy how the symmetry and balance worked out with the riverbed, mountains and sand dunes. I wish I could say that I recognized this when I took the photo, but that'd be total lie. Our balloon ride was shared with 6 other people in the basket so the pilot would constantly spin the balloon to give everyone a good view of the sunrise and the scenery. I was basically just reacting and shooting as much as I could for the full hour long ride. Only when I got back to the room later that afternoon and reviewed pictures did I even get an idea of what I got. Sometimes all you can do is just kind of live in the moment, react and hope you get something half way decent.
