I made it back into the US a couple weeks ago and already only have about 6 weeks left on the trip before returning to Namibia! Last night we were treated to a nice super moon over NYC and the weather actually behaved a little bit for us. You wouldn't know it but there was a full bank of clouds behind me over Jersey while taking this shot. The skies stayed just clear enough to the east as the moon rose to get a nice shot.
For this shot I positioned myself along the west side of the Jackie O reservoir in Central Park right around 86th street or so. I shot with an 80-400mm zoomed in all the way across the park on the buildings and once I saw the moon coming up I ran to get it right over the water tower. I had tried to guess where the moon was going to be while rising, but in practice I was about 2-3 blocks off. Oh well, some quick running and repositioning and I was back in business.
