Under the Enola Gay

Under the Enola Gay It's been a while since I processed some images....but I'm back on track now!  This shot is from the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport in Washington DC.  The Enola Gay is lifted up on risers over several other "smaller" airplanes completely dwarfing anything near it.

No tripods are allowed here so this was 3 shots handheld at 500 ISO plus lots of processing in Photomatix, Photoshop, Topaz and Color Efex.

Prop Detail

Old Prop plane from the National Air and Space Museum They don't make them like they used too!  This old prop plane was in the National Air and Space museum which such a wonderful place to walk around and photograph.  They don't allow tripods inside but that's OK for just getting some detail shots. I initially discarded a lot of photos because the colors were not punchy enough but after revisiting with a BW filter I'm finding many more shots that I love.

Aircraft Epic

This view when you enter the Air and Space Museum is probably the most photographed spot in the room (HDR or otherwise).  I tried to walk around for a a few hours to get some unique shots of all sorts of aircraft but I can't resist posting such an epic view!

p.s. Yes, that is the Space Shuttle all the way in the background...this place is huge!

Little Guy

This little guy probably gets lost in the Air and Space Museum (the one at Dulles Airport), but after wading through about 800 photos I was drawn to this one first.  Maybe it's the expression the nose is making or maybe the rest of the museum is just so overwhelming...this little guys sticks out though.

DC Sunset

I was down in DC Halloween weekend for Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity which turned out to be a lot fun (and filled with a lot of reasonable people).  After the Rally Stephanie and I went through the Natural History Museum and then walked over to the White House to get a look while it was still light.  On the way back to the Hotel we stopped by the Monument hoping to catch the sunset and grab  few shots before retiring to the hotel.  By the time we got over to the monument we were completely amazed at the show that was happening in the sky.  Needless to say we stayed and watched (and shot) the sunset in its entirety this night.  There is at least more shot from another angle to show up on this site in near future.  Stay tuned...
